College Research Project

Objectives: 

Requirements:

  1. Completed "Book Search Lists" worksheet.

  2. Completed "College Comparison" chart.

  3. Letter(s) of Request to ONE college.

  4. Full introductory paragraph and Full conclusion paragraph.

  5. Outline for the "3 body paragraphs" which correspond to introductory/conclusion paragraphs.

  6. Works Cited page.

LIBRARY - DAY ONE

  1. Go to one of these sites and select your preferences for each item asked.  You should be asked about college size, city size, Majors you're interested in, etc.  By the end of the "questionnaire," you should have 3 or more colleges selected for you.

  1. Fill out your "College Comparison" chart using at least 3 colleges from your computerized list.

LIBRARY - DAY TWO

  1. Now that you have your chart completed, begin researching either online at a college's website or in one of the books reviewed by the librarian at the beginning of class.

  2. By the end of class, you should have looked for and found information on at least two of your criteria (e.g. tuition, location, Majors offered, extracurriculars, scholarships, etc.)

LIBRARY - DAY THREE

  1. Consult and make copies from at least 1 of the resource books.

  2. Indicate your choices on your "Book Search List" and turn in the worksheet.  Also, turn in your "College Comparison" chart.

  3. By the end of class, you should have found information for all three of your criteria.

  4. Before you leave today, make sure you have all information needed for the Works Cited page.
